The Best Strawberry Margaritas, Anyone?
When I mix up a frozen strawberry margarita, it’s got to be blended! While I love margaritas and spicy margaritas on the rocks, there’s just something about the slushy strawberry marg that is so perfect. Tequila, lime juice and frozen strawberries are a match made in frozen cocktail heaven.
Best of all, frozen strawberry margaritas are easy to mix up in batches for a party! Serve with queso, chips and guacamole, carnitas tacos and you’ve got a great party on your hands!
Easy Strawberry Margarita Ingredients
- Frozen strawberries: The frozen strawberries act like the “ice” so you can’t use fresh berries.
- Blanco tequila: Blanco tequila is clear tequila, and it is not (very) aged.
- Fresh lime juice: Don’t use bottled! Fresh is best, every time.
- Orange liqueur: I like to use Cointreau or Grand Marnier. NOT triple sec.
- Sugar: You’ll use this to make simple syrup. Just a splash helps balance out the powerful tequila flavor.
How To Make Frozen Strawberry Margaritas
- Make simple syrup. Like it sounds, simple syrup is simple! It’s just equal parts sugar and water, stirred together until the sugar is dissolved.
- Blend together the syrup, frozen strawberries, tequila, lime juice, and orange liquor in a high-speed blender.
- Salt the glasses. Rub the rims of four margarita glasses with a lime wedge and dip the glass in salt. (If you’re not into salted rims, skip this step.)
- Pour the strawberry margarita into the glasses.
- Garnish with lime. Serve immediately.
Tips For The Best Strawberry Margaritas
- Start with great tequila. Or at least good tequila. Espolòn Tequila Blanco is a go-to brand for me, because it is relatively affordable and high-quality. But any blanco tequila that you like and that fits your budget will work fine.
- Make a strawberry margarita mocktail! You can easily make this a mocktail! Just leave out the tequila, and use less simple syrup.
- Don’t use fresh strawberries! For once, I don’t want you to use fresh strawberries. Save them for shortcake. I don’t add any ice to my strawberry margarita recipe, so the “ice” is just the frozen strawberries. It makes the strawberry flavor SO powerful and delicious.
